CBI arrests former Chairman of Railway Recruitment Board, Mumbai
The Central Bureau of Investigationhas arrested Chairman, Railway Recruitment Board, Mumbai(under suspension) and Senior Divisional Personnel Officer, Raipur in a railway recruitment scam relating to examinations of the Assistant Loco Pilot and Assistant Station Master.
The CBI had earlier arrested eight accused persons i.e. son of Chairman Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), Mumbai; the then Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM); his son; one Raipur-based agent; one employee of Health Department of Government of Andhra Pradesh and three Hyderabad-based agents and all were in Judicial Custody. These eight accused persons were taken into three days CBI custody from the designated Court at Hyderabad today.
Though the CBI had concrete evidence that Sharma's son, Vivek Bharadwaj Sharma, was the one who leaked the examination papers of Assistant Loco Pilot and Assistant Station Master held on June 6 and 13 respectively, they wanted to probe the role of the former Chairman in the scam. The CBI has unearthed the scam by conducting simultaneous raids at Mumbai, Bangalore, Raipur, and Kolkata & Hyderabad. It is estimated that the scam runs into several crores of rupees. Further investigation is continuing.
